{WE iii] The newly elected ex- ecutive wishes to thank the students of UPEI for their support at the polls. The record turnout of vot— .rs (850) speaks well for student involvement, and dispeli:the theory that apathy controls UPEI.‘ Throughout the coming year, we hope to continue and expand the policies of the previous administrat-e ion, while concentrating on improving campus life_as well. We hope to make our- selves more accessible to the student population, 'r and enable them to have a sense of trust and confid- ence in the exective. MEETING. Students have until March 15th to put their names in for Chairmanship or Mem- bership of any Committee of the Student Union. The U.P.E.I. Student Union Social Committee is looking for applications, so anyone who feels that they can im- prove or contribute to the Social Committee should go down to the Student Union of offices in the basement of Memorial Hall and ask for application‘ forms from either the secretary or from the internal vice - president Norbert Moran. The Student Council at their first general meeting ‘ held on March 5, 1972 decided that the movies held on this campus provide a large part of the entertainment, so a New Film Society is being set up to bring in first class movies at least twice a week. If you happen to a: have any deep interest in movies and would like to help organize this societythen 'pick up an application and JDiNe Council has also voted to set up an advertising commit- tee. This committee will be in charge of publicity and communications. that one of the main problems facing students at this uni- versity is an inability to find'out what is being planned and carried out for their sup- posed benefit. This committee it is felt by the internal vice-president will need a lot of hard work and good people involved in it. But the re— turns ahould heavily outweigh any costs. To mention other committees there are the yearbook and newspaper, the Student Judi— cial Committee, Uriententation Committee, winter Carnival Committee, Radio U.P.E.I., Student Store, Photo Club, Choral Club. Just a few words on the Choral Club; this is a venture thought up by the external and internal vice-presidents to give those students both in music and in the other courses a chance to come together and form a club which would be free of the pressures of the Music Depart- ment's Glee Club, and which would hopefully be directed by interested students. In closing council would like to remind all students that the committees exist for their benefit and anyone with suggestions for improvements of existing committees or the establishment of new committees then bring your ideas to Norbert Moran who is internal vice-president is responsible to council for Council feels the Union's Committees.
