"The Bad One" is entertainment at its very best, with enough oi’ mus- ic and drama mixed with its comedy to make it; universally liked. It is re- plete with thrilling episodes, tinctur- ed with amusing situations and near the end with a touch of melodrama her lover are embroiled in a breath- taking prison revolt. “ From sheer comedy "The Bad One" dips into serious drama at the end when "Lita" sacrifices herself to vol- untary confinement in an island pen- al institution to be near the man she has wronged. In this intensely interesting pic- ture Edmund Lowe plays once again his typical role o! the go-getting male pursuer after beauty. Just as Miss Del Rios characterization is the most striking since her meteoric rise to popularity, so is Lowe's interpret- ation of the boldly amorous Ameri. can the most spectacular in which he has been seen for years. Similar praise must go to Don Al- varado who is one of ‘a quartet of villains composed oi.’ Ralph Lewis, Ulirich Haupt and Mitchell Lewis. Adrienne d'Ambricourt, playing “Mme. Pompier," the cafe propriet- ress, adds much of delightful humor to the picture. Others cast in im- portant roles are Blanche Friderici, Yola D‘Avril, who is seen as a cafe hoyden; John St. Polis, Victor Potel, Henry Kolker, and Tommy Dugan. You have probably noticed in pay- ing certain bllls that all robbers do not wear masks.
