April meeting of Mt. Albion
Womea’s institute met at the home
of Mrs. Benjamin Jenkins with an
attendance of twelve members.
After the opening exercises busi-
ness matters were discussed. _ it
was,moved and seconded tbat_the
bill of!-i.75 ,lor district purposes
be paid. - 'The treasurer reported
that the bill for the four chairs
purchased for the school room was
paid to secretary. lt was decid-
ed that the painting of the school
room be left until vacation also
that a sign board for the school be
made at the same time. A knitt-
ing bag, three balls of crochet
thread and two holders were donat-
ed by Mrs. Boswell Jenkins and
Mrs. Benjamin, Jenkins, all of
which were sold at the meeting. A
Sick Committee consisting of Mrs.
Walter Brown, Mrs. Benjamin
Jenkins, Mrs. Boswell Jenkins and
_Mrs. Westaway Chandler was ap-
pointed to act for three mouths at
least. After the meeting closeda
lovely lunch was served by the
hostess followed by a pleasant fire-
side chat. Next meeting will be
held in the school house. Copies
of the song "Mother I'il Remember"
by Mlnna Drake. may be obtained
from the secretary at this meeting.

There have been cases, in which
an inhibition of the heart took
place from a small cause. A worn-
an had died from this cause after
she had been tapped in a playful

Several other cases have occur-
red recently of what is becoming
to be known as sudden death by
inhibition, that is to say, by ex-
cessive'stimulation of the vague
nerve. The condition .is the same
in kind as the familiar experience

stress of fright or other emotion.

the death of n man who had a great
fear of operations, and died as the
needle was being with drawin
through which to administer a local
anesthetic before the operation
was begun. `_
ln yet another case. a man buri-
ed for many hours under a land-
slide, and able to converse with
his would-be rescuers, died aa soon
as the heavy plank compressing
his chest was removed. In most of
these cases the brain was noticed
to be very large and the skull very
thin.

view of encouraging the manufnc-!
'ture of linen textiles, the German
government has removed the ex-
port license and tax for these
goods. According to the German
trade reports of the American
-Chamber of Commerce in Germany
the export tax has been the great-
est obstacle in the revival ot the
export trade here.
_ Exporters have been making
strenuous efforts to secure ' ship-
meats so as to put them on a
oasis similar to that which pre-
vailed prior to the war. Simultan-
eously with removal of the export
liconsc and tax the removal of lm-
D0i't licenses is planned, and al-
ready has liccn. put into effect for
3. number of foreign products.
Tile German linen industry, like
all other industries, ‘has been plac-
ed upon a gold mark has-is. The
Chambf-.r’s trade report says the
price of linen yarn, compared with
Ueace time prices, is now 60 per-
cent less, while cotton -und cotton
yarn in New York ha., increased
from 14 cents in 1914 to 37 cents,
indicating an- increase of nearly
