' PLO-rreR'5x' ' Inquest Held . lnlo Death Of T Georgetown Boy Injured in an automobile ae- oident at High Bank on Sunday. four-year-old Alden Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hibbiit Jenkins of Georgetown died in Montana Hospital yesterday morning. A coroner's jury later in the day found that tihe boy had died as a result M injuries received in the accident and that the driver of the automobile. Sheldon Ross. with the Canadian Army at Hal- ifax. was "entirely blameless." 'Iiha inquest was held at the R. C. M. P. office. Montague, with coroner Dr. G. S. A. lnman pre- siding. The boy was a passerfger in an automobile. driven by Mr. Ross. which was proceeding to the ferry at Wood Islands on Monday. When at High Bank the right front wheel came on and the car skid- ded into a d-itch. The boy receiv- ed injuriesito his head and was taken to the King's Couniy Me- morial Hospital at Montague. The other occupants of the car were Mrs. Jenkins and Miss Mar- garet Lavers, Georgetown. both of whom received facial lucra- tions; the driver's son. Peter. Who was un-hurt: and Mrs. Jenkins' two-year-old son Ralph who i! still a patient at Montague Hos- piial.. Dr. Lorne Bonnell. Murray River, was the first witness yes- terday. He said he had been cal- led to the scene of the accident and had treated the patient there. He also treated him later at the hospital. In his opinion the child died of intercraniai hemorrhage. The driver of the car. Sheldon Ross. Halifax. said he was an uncle of the child. He had been visiting relatives in Georgetown over the week-end and had beer. returning to Halifax at the time of the accident. Sometime before the accident he smelled something burning and stopped to investigate. He found nothing and drove on. At a rough section in the road the right front wheel came off and the car skidded into I ditch. Cpl. Doug George. R. C. M. P., stated that the threads on the right axle were worn off. and also that the cotter pin was worn off whichvheld the axle nut in place. The not. was found inside the grease cup. and also a portion of the key was found there. The service was conducted by Rev. M. D. Dunbar. Charlottetown. assisted by Rev. M. wsttei-worth Lower Montague. The hymns sung were:-"shall we Meat Beyond The River." and ”Will There Be Any stars In My crown." The solo parts of these hymns were besutifuily sung by Mrs. Ralph Beck. The last hymn was: "safe in The Arms of Jesus". Rev. Mr. Dunbar spoke words of comfort, to the bereaved and to the many friends of the deceased. Pall-bearers were Messrs, David wright. Austin Ross. John Mac- Kenzie, Chester schimsr. Albert Ellsworth. Josph Campbell. all oi whom were neighbours of the de- ceased. Interment was in Montague Cemetery.
