Those posts, in place of being set across the cors ner—as they are now, should be on a con- cave line, which would enable people to enter more easily. Any person having a mechanical eye, will see at a glance that it is a disgraceful ‘piece of workmanship. Yours, A MECHANIC. Editor Daily Examiner: Sir,—Many complaints have been made against the present Government of the Dominion for allowing so much jobbing amongst the officials; and as there is some grumbling at present about certain Dos minion Departments for not acting fairly, [ will venture toask you the following questions, and your answer will be looked for witha degree of interest by a good many :— Can you tell the reason why the business of supplying the several light~houses around the Island with coal and oil is not let to tender, and not as it is done now by private bargain? Who owns the schooner called the [ois Jane, that at present has got such fat pickings ? Is it fair to give all the work to her by private contract,—and that, like the steel rail job, ‘‘ without the sanction of Govern- ment ?”’ By answering the above at your earliest convenience, you will oblige ENQUIRER, Aug. 23, 1877. nen ~ + <-> a To the Editor of the Daily Examiner.
