Full'Electric Co. for _ the following in-
teresting account of the laying ofthe
Atlantic Cable of 1866. Mr. Dickieson
held the position of electrical engineer
on hoard the big ship that was used to
lay the cable. _ 1
When the Great Eastern left Sheerness
a little village at the mouth of Thames.
the shore end of the cable had not been
laid. She went to Beerhaven and
there remained until it was put down.
The whole of the directors of the At-
lantic Cable with their friends were
