T~.0ELEB 13* Tennessee Winner Oi Feature ‘Tennessee Sue, Jimmy Power's smooth pacing mus yesterday chalked up her third straight vit- tory of the season when she cap- tured a straight heat victory in the feature event of the racing card staged at Montague race track. 1t was the only straight heat victory on the fair-class card with the mare being given three great drives by driver Dave Wise- ner as he took her from behind in the stretch in the first heat and then stsved off the challenges o! the other three horses in the next two miles. Considering the cool weather s good sized crowd of fans witnessed some great finishes throughout the afternoon with Dudy Budiong and Bee Budiong staging spectacular duels in the No. 4 Classified before the latter mare driven by Harold Stead was declared the winner. Lusticia, owned by C. l-l. Chand- ler and ,handled expertly by Aus- tin Tierney was 1 1 2 in the No. 2 Classified Trot while Willard Kelly drove Lorraine Abbe to vic- tory in the No. 3 Classified Pace. No. 1 Classified Pace Lee Brewer, going away on the rail led the field of four horses around to the three quarter pole where Wisener pulled Tennessee sue out to capture the heat with O. U. Volo finishing second, Lee Brewer third, Scotty Budlong fourth, and 'Wait N'See fifth. Sue made every post s. winning one in taking the second heat with 0. U. Volo again furnishing the competition and the other three horses pretty well bunched back s. couple oblengths. It was the same story in the final heat Sue having too much foot for the rest but 0. U. Volo and scotty Budlong staging a real duel for the runner up spot with Volo get- ting the nod. Wait N’5ee was fourth. No. 2 Classified Pace Lusticis trotting s. storm all the way was never headed in the first heat. From the three quarter pole hcme Kelly's Nightmare and Billy Kalmuck both went to drives but the best they could do was togettn within two lengths of the Tierney driven horse. with the Nightmare being second. Billy Kalmuck third and Nell Kolmuck fourth. In the second Lusticia again was off to front and in a stirring stretch drive headed the Nightmare by a/liead but the latter had re- venge in the third and final heat. As the field swung into the stretch Lusticia took the turn wide and the Nightmare immediately 511p. ped into the pole position and in the race down the stretch headed Lusticia by half a length, M, m, wire. No. 3 Classified Pace Lorraine Abbe going sway on the rail was never headed in the lnlilfil mile. Just Flicka made her bid in the stretch but couldn't quite‘ catch the pacing leader with Miss Knox and Marjorie Budlong also. moving up fast s. 11min closely packed together. It was Lorraine all the way lhTOHShout the second mile but Katz Defeat The. Marjorie Budlong was again fourth. The third heat produced one of the toughest duels, of the day. All through the mile the four horses remained bunched closely and 20 feet from the wire they were the same way but as they paced under it Miss Knox had her head in front with Just Flicka second. Marjorie Budlong fourth and Lorraine Abbe dropping back to fourth. No. 4 Classified Pace The fans were provided with an- other upset in the first mile of the race when Bee Budlong paced to the front to win by a length and pay 610.10 at the parl-mutuels. But it was a great heat with sil the horses in contention right to the wire. Dudy Budlong. taking a new mark of 2.13 1-5 paced home in mile but there was very little sep- arating the first five horses as they came under the wire but it was Ducly‘s closing drive that copped matters. ' Bee Budlong, going all out from the start snapped the rail from Dudy Budlong right alter the word and led the field right around to the top of the stretch but again Dudy Budlongs closing brush car- ried her to the front to win by a length over the Bee Budlongmare.
