Sept. 24-Trading interest narrowed down to p, small group Of Blues On the Montreal Stock Exchange today with no par- ticular pressure either to buy or to sell apparent and stocks moved ir- regularly within a narrow range. Volume expanded considerably from yesterday with more than 12,000 shares chsnslns hands. Power stocks provided the sole market feature as they moved sharply lower in the face of sud- den sharp selling. The remainder of the use displayed no particular tendency in light turnover. Cau- tion, engendered by such widely separated innuenoes as the foreign situation and the iuicertainty sur- rounding the political situation in Canada, was still in evidence and traders seemed inclined t.o remain aloof from dealings pending clari- fication of the situation. Consolidated Smelters was a strong leader, showing e. gain of 3 points at 178 while ltnternational Nickel advanced 1-3 at 30 1-2 and Canadian Pacino I-8 at 10. Small gains were also shown by Domin- ion Coal preferred and a few more while Canada Cement preferred. Brazilian Traction and Dominion Bridge. among others, were lower.
