The greatest harmony and 5:11" .heuld haVe been glad to have laid this interesting docu- ment before our readers at an earlier day, had circumstan- ces permitted. As it is, we have no doubt it will be perused with interest by many. The extraordinary statements set forth "LII-118 Minute are authenticated bv the signatures of two indiViduals of'the highest celebrity—LDr. CHALMERS and Dr. Gannon—whose veracity and integrity, we presume, will not be called in question by any one. But for this cir- ,cumstance, persons residing on this side of the Atlantic ‘m‘ight led.to doubt the correctness ofthe narrative, deem- ing it incredible that such disgraceful and intolerant pro- ceedings could possibly be perpetrated by any class of per- sons Within the British dominions—mucb less by so intelli- nt and enlightened a body as the landowners of Scot- land—1n this the Nineteenth century of the Christian era. such, however, is the melancholy fact. An exhibition has 131er taken place in that country, which not only stamp the active agents in it with infamy, but i—as it has very properly been characterised by a metropolitan journal—“ an abuse ofthe rights of property, for purposes of intolerance and persecution, that is utterly disgraceful to the boasted enlightenment of our age and country.” REPEAL.—-Tlie “Address of the Repealers of Prince Ed- ward Island to Daniel O’Connell, Esq., M. P., the immortal and illustrious Liberator ofIreland,” was read at the week- ly meeting of the Loyal National Repeal Association, held in the Corn Exchange, Dublin, on the 4th ult., which, toge- flier \Vlill the reply thereto, shall appear in our next. THEIIAT‘E MASTERS or THE CENTRAL ACADEMY.—A good deal of excnenient still prevails in this community on the subject oi'the recent changes in the Central Academy. We last week gave a condensed report of the proceedings of a public meeting held on the 27th nlt., called expresslv for the purpose of taking into consideration the claims which Mr. Alexander Brown, one of the late Masters, has oti the gratitude of this community, See. This expression of opi- nion was, doiihtlcss, called for by the peculiar circumstances of the case. Mr. Brown’s well-known talents as an instruc- tor of'youtb——his many excellent qualities as a private iridi- vidual—arid a residence among us for a period oftwenty- two years—have tended materially to elicit a large amount ofsympathy in his favour, anti a very general feeling of dis- satisfaction at the unceremouious—not'to say cruel—manner in which that gentleman has been treated by a majority ofthe Govaruors and Trustees of the Academy. We view this community will not desert an old and tried servant, with stipport,iu the hour of extremity—but that they will come forward and render him that countenance and support to which lie is entitled, and which will, we doubt not, prove very acceptable at the present crisis. There is also another topic to which we would beg, ere we conclndc, to call the attention of our readers. The Rev. James VVaddell, it is well known, hasbeen dealt with in the seine ungracions manner as Mr. Brown, and conse- quently—though perhaps not possessing equal claims upon the sympathy of the public as the latter gentleman—— is at least entitled to some mark of consideration for the ability he has invariably displayed— in the discharge of his duties as one ofthe Masters ofthe Central Academy, in unanimity have all along existed lietiveen those gentlemen, and we see no good and valid reason why Mr. Waddell should not receive some substantial mark of approbation and sym- pathy as well as his coadjutor (Mr. Brown). The presentation of an Address to these gentlemen, as suggested by the Pallzuiium, would, we think, meet the present exigency. Some graphic sketches, on the affairs of this Colony, and the condition ofits agricultural inhabitants, will be found in the communication of CURTIUS, in ourlast page to-day, to which we would direct the attention of our readers. Ano'rnsit Fran—On the afternoon of Friday se’nnight, the Dwelling House of Edward Roberson, Esq., of Newtown, Belfast, was totally destroyed by fire, which originated, it is supposed, in a spark from a tobacco—pipe falling upon a chafi' bed, temporarily used by a workman in a room where a car- penter had been employed, and which was much strewed with chips. Although Mr. Roberson was in an adjoining room, the fire was not noticed until it had acquirer] such an ascendancy that it was with great difficulty and hazard that he was able to force a passage through the flames, to save same money and a few other articles which were in the burn- ing room. As no effectual assistance could be procured, the Whole building was speedily consumed, with nearly all the furniture—lb. The only accident that occurred was the upsetting of a canoe, Which appears to have afforded the spectators no small de- gree ofmerriinent. THOMAS OWEN. ______’____—— PARR’S MEDICINE, ALL THAT_ IS REQUIRED. THE fine tonic properties it contains usually restore the stomach to a healthy appetite, so much envied, but so seldom enjoyed by the invalid; the gently stimulating powers it possesses assist the stomach to properly digest the food it receives; the balsamic‘powers it bestows, dispose both mind and body to healthy exercise, and the varied duties oflife are performed with pleasure. It,iii addition, contains a fine sedative quality, and in- stead of long and weary nights, gives sound and refreshing sleep. It acts as the mildest and most agreeable purgative, and. by its cleansing powers totally eradicates a redun ancy of bile, and completely removes all'obstructions of the intestinal canal. The powerful balsamic and invigorating effects on the whole blood and fluids produced by these Medicines is almost miraculous; many who have kept their beds for years have been so speedily reinVigo- rated, that their reappearance amongst their fellow-beings, wholiad given them up as incurable, is looked upon as the greatest of the many great wonders of this wonderful age. Diseases of every decri tion have been cured simply by the use of'PARR LIFE PILL , thus showing that what has been conSidered different disorders, and requiring different treatment, all originated in the same cause, and can be cured by one uniform trcatment. Past 5 Llrl PILLs, although powerful in conquering disease, yet areas pure and harmless as new milk, and may be administered wnh confidence to the invalid, however weakly from long ill-health, who will soon enjoy these delightful symptoms of a return to strong healtli, viz: good appetite, sound slee , and an increase of animal spirits. Those who have been the instruments of res- toring the long-lost secret to the world, feel confident, when they make the assertion, that none need despair, that, ifonly a fair trial be given, the result will be a restoration to health and happiness.
