For the first six miles the race was most spectacular,‘both men lighting lor supremacy, but Cameron stuck to the peedy Shrubb, and, indeed, maintain- d the lead for the greater part of thai B a first half of the journey. Bhrubb was determined to tire_ Camerou, hut caug- hta Tartan and in the seventh mile Cameron began to draw away and by the time the ninth mile was reached he had half a lap on Slfrubh and was gaining on him every turn of the cor- ner. Between the ninth and tenth mile Shruhb dropped out of the run- ning and Cameron finished the ten miles in 54 mins. 40 secs. Up till Shruhb dropped out both: runners were going at u record break- ing pace, but Cameron slacked his pace when Shrubb quit. Camcron's victory is very popular here. The six miles were completed in 31 mins. 40 secs. It is believed here that Cameron could have made the 12 miles in one hour and four minutes. Shrubb leaves' for 'l`oronto tomorrow. ____.__i._,-_.s Will PIIIIIIH Ill IIIW IUHK CHICAGO, Sept. 13-flev. Dr. Wil- iiam P. Ifi’ WILL BE EXPEIISIVE 'ELECTION MONTREAL, Sept. 14- The price the candidate of 1911 has to pav to be elected is higher than it ever ' was before the Herald finds so far as Montreal is concerned. A few years ago it was stated that the cost to a candidate in the counties would be in the neighborhood of $10,000. Though conditions in the country districts have changed but little, in the city there is scarcely a candidate who will _count on going through the election without going through $20,- 000. The canvassers have raised their rates now $2.50 a day is a mlnimiim price. BODY FOUIID IIEIK SCEIIE 0F IICCIDEIIT Ymnlnis in the mutter of prizes. ' ` NAMED RAGE WINNERS. _ _ ‘ » I Capt. D. A.
