Prior to his illness he was engaged in settling the affairs of the Washington institution, which recently consolidated with the Ameri- can Trust Company. Mr. Sutherland was associated ln the law practice with George Elgel, a member of the House of Delegates. About seventeen years ago Mr. Sutherland came to St. Louis from Chicago.
