Corn and corn products are held higher. The atock of dry fish here is chiefly held by ship- pers, and prices are purely nominal. There have as yet been no arrival of European salt and prices are nominal ex-store. ——— Scuooner Szrwep.—The schr. W. H. Foye, of Gloucester, Mass., was seized on Saturday night at Beaver Harbor, N. 8., for a violation of the Customs Act, said to have been committed at Grand \!a:an in December last, and a penalty imposed of $400 fine. Captain Rowe states that the seizure was purely illegal. He states that on December last, while lying at Grand Manan, a dory was stolen from the vessel’s stern during the night. The customs claim that he sold this dory, hence the seizure. Mr. Poirier delivered an able speech wn the oyster industry. He regretted its decline, and asked the Government to take prompt measures to preyent oyster fishing through the ice in the winter season. The Government had the whole matter under consideration, but it was a difficult thing to complete any scheme of protection without unduly oppressing poor people who relied on the oysters for their daily food.
