At both services, Mr. Harry Yorston. President of the Georgetown Men's Association was the guest speaker. Mr. Yorston opened his remarks with a reference to the course of history of the early church from the time of Constantine. He ex- pressed a belief that a much great- er danger than communism threat- ens the church today, that is in: difference among her own mem- bers. He stressed the urgent need of a lasting spiritual rejuvenation of the church, without false emo- tionalism which often turns out to be only a flash in the pan. Mr. Yorston also gave his im- pressions of the First Maritime Conference of United Church lay- men which he attended last sunl- mer at Berwick. N. S. One of the trends shown at the conference was toward a re-awakened inter- est. in Bible study; the laymen be- lieve that there is not enough stress on the Bible in many ser- moiis given from the pulpits of our churches today.
