PAUUI CHURCH Beautiful lilies and daffodils adorned the Holy Table and the chanoel on Eastcr Sunday. The services for the day included cele- brationa of the Holy Communion at eight and eleven o'c1ock, and at the close of the evening service. The text of the morning sermon was taken from St. Matthew's Gospel. “He is not here, He is risen.” East/er brings first a mess- age of purest joy. Joy has to do with the highest things oi' human life. Everything. that ls reached with the message of Jesus Christ gives joy, Easter also brings us a message of victory. The Resurrection was the greatest victory the world has ever known. Then. too. Easter brings us a message of hope. Hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ. “Christ is risen from the dead and become the first fruits of them that slept." It.._also brings to us the assurance otgrcat blessing. The assurance ot.life beyond the grave, “For as in Adam all die even so in Christ shall all be made alive." At three o’olock the Children’s Service was held in the Church- After a short address given by the Rector, Mr. Raymond, the Sunday School began the erection oi’ a calm which will commemorate their share in the Church’s Res- toration Fund. The evening sermon was based on '-the text, "If ye then be risen with Christ seek those things which are above." There is a chai- lenge about these words-a chal- lenge we need. In the hearty services and in the Holy Com- munion of Easter Day we have been in the uplands of life, so to speak, tomorrow we go down into the~ lowlands of the every day, when it is easier to full into temp- tation. We need to be eternally vigilant. The challenge is "seek those things which are above." How may we answer this chal- lenge. Jesus is there. Think upon Hiin as you know Him. Read and study His life as portrayed in the New Testament. By continually associating our lives with Him we learn the lessons of life. “Let the word of Christ dwell in your hearts richly in all wisdom." Spe- cial, music was rendered by the choir. All the services of the day were conducted by the Rector, Mr. Ray- mcnd. ,ca:N'ra.a`1. cmus'rIAN clumcn Service began yesterday with an early morning prayer meeting at seven o‘clock, during which appro- priate hymns were sung, prayers of- fered by pastor and elders, and a period of silent prayer and medita- tion. The theme of the nwmmgemwice at eleven o'clock was the “ emin- ence of Christ," based on Colossians i:l.8 and developed as follows: “Christ was the preeminent Agent ln Creation," “Christ has the Pre- rmla.;;i;e among men and angels." "Chant was recognized as Preemln- ent by the Deity," “The Scriptures Give Christ the Preemi.nence." "Christ was Preemlnent over Death." l‘he special music included Slmper's 'I Am He That Liveth," Mr. V. L. Dingwell taking the baritone solo. During the opening exercises of the Sunday School, the C. G. I. T. presented an Easter playet under the direction of Mrs. F. M. Stewart und Misa Emily Platte. The theme of the evening service was “The Resurrection of the Dead." based on the fifteenth chapter of First Corinthians, and developed as follows: "The historic testimony." "The Absurdlty of the Christian Religion if there is no General Re- surrection," “The Rcsurrection Body is a body suited for a Heavenly m- vlronmerit." The anthem of the evening was “Cl1l'tst is Risen," Miss Nan Mac- Kay and Mrs. Milton Stewart taking the _contralto and soprano solos. The beautiful floral decorations were provided by the ladies' Aid of the Church. BT.
