The consensus was that there was not enough students interested and that trying to get a good time to fit everyone's schedule would mean holding more than one meeting. Maybe next year folks. The joke this week comes from the Laugh-a- Lot daily Be website. It e is entitled “In a Foreign Land.” A story about a student named Donald MacDonald from the Isle of Skye, who was admit- ted at the prestigious Oxford University, and was now living in the hall of residence in his first year there. His clan was so excited that one of their own had made it into the upper class of education, but were concerned how he’d do in “that strange land.” After the first month, his mother came to visit me doubt carrying rein- orcements of whiskey and oatmeal.) “And how do you find the English students, Donald?” she asked. “Mother,” he re- plied in his thick brogue, ‘they’re such terrible noisy people. He says “we love we learn, but sadly at different rates.” Ann Bancroft is responsible for the second ° quote. “The best way to et husbands to do some- thing is to suggest that perhaps they're too old to do it. And from a child’s perspective: The teacher asks why the student was late. Webster replies that it is because of the sign. She asks, “what sign?” He replies, “the one that says, “School Ahead. Go Slow.” Hope everyone en- joyed the break. you next week! The Mapus Con- nection is a column dedi- cated to promoting the ideas and suggestions of mature and part-time stu- dents at UPEI.
