' 3509-4-{10-31 In Memoriam THE LATE “WILLIAM H, MAYYNE 0n the morning oi April 12th when the news was flashed over the wires from the Hospital at Saint John to Summerfielcl that the spirit of Wil- liam H. Mayne had passed to its eter- nal rest all the people of the sur- rounding community recelved. the news with saddened hearts. Mr. Mayne, who had been able to perform the duties of his occupation up to August was then laid aside from active vrork and on the advice of this physician he went to the Hos- pital at, East Saint John to try and have his health restored. This treat- ment hcipcd him so much that it was believed he might possibly regain his former strength but such was not to be and, as stated before, on the mom- ing of April 12th., during an attack of a severe pumonary hemorrhage, he passed away. , Mr. Mayne was bom at Summer- iielti on June 10th., 1878, and spent his lifl on the homestead there. He was a man that was ever ready w perform the major part of any under- taking for the benefit of the. com- munity. In church or state he was a recognized leader in any movement and during the building of the church at summer-Hold. replacing the one de- sioyed by fire, Mr. Mayne was large- ly responsible for the early and sat- isfactory completion of thil work. He always worked for advancement in different inns, of agriculture along co~ operative lines. acting in the ca.- pacity of President of Emerald Dairy Association, Emerald Farmers‘ Co- operative Company, Springfield Egg Circle and Springfield Live Stock Shippnig Club, and other Companies which have for their objects the bet- tering of farming conditions. To know William Mayne it was necessary to meet him in his own home, no person could visit him with- out receiving that worm wholehenrted welcome which can only come from a heart overflowing with love. No man cvcr asked a favor of William Mayne and did not receive it if pol- sible for him to give. His was a. life full oi’ philanthropic work and at I'll-S demise not only his immediate friends in Summer-field, but the surrounding vicinity as well lost n true ‘friend and one whose hand was always out to help n. person in need.
