     This letter is written in re- 
     
     sponse to the letter to the edi- 
     
     tor printed on page five of the 
     
     October 20th issue of the Gem. 
     
     Although I am not part of the 
     
     Administration I sit on the Stu- 
     
     dent Union Council as Ombuds- 
     
     man. The Ombudsman is the 
     
     person on.campus to whom the 
     
     students can turn if they are hav- 
     
     ing problems with the Student 
     
     Union or the University. I have 
     
     met with the Chairman of the 
     
     Traffic & Parking Committee and 
     
     with the Director of Security and 
     
     have gained the following infor- 
     
     mation from that meeting: 
     
    

    
     The Traffic & Parking Com- 
     
     mittee is not a subcommittee of 
     
     the Senate or the Board of Gover- 
     
     nors. It was created to make rec- 
     
     ommendations to the President 
     
     on traffic and reserved parking 
     
     and to handle appeals of the de- 
     
     cisions made by the Officers of

     and Parking Committee, Dennis

     fore the committee has not met 
     
     since September 25, 1986. The
