Now thatthe semester is underway and we are all up to our ears in tests and papers, we would like to fill you in on what’s been going on down here and what is planned for next semester. Our Vice President Operations, David Fitzpatrick has been busy organizing some social things to take your ‘mind off the books and relax you. Winter Carnival is scheduled for Febuary 17-21 and we’ ve got lots of ‘things planned. Activities for the week includea hypnotist and arockin’ pub witha great band called ‘the Grunions. Something else you’ll not want to miss ‘is an appearance by Yuk Yuks atthe Panter Lounge on Wednesday, January 29th. Watch the X-press fora schedule of all Winter Carnival events and for other pubs dates and activities as they come up!!! 5 We willalso be running a number of campaigns in the upcoming semester. These include an Addictions Awareness week, Student Union and CFS Awareness Eampaigns and the traditional ‘If you Love Education c ay’ on Febuary 14th. Thisis an annual campaign that usually comes complete with discounts at S itty’s for that day. Student Union elections are coming up, with nomina- ons opening on Febuary 14th. There are anumber f positions to be filled and we can guarantee an (perience that you’ ll never forget! Being involved in be personally rewarding as well as prepare you ‘or the future by giving you some key skills that iployers often seek in job applicants. You need not ive been involved in the past but simply have an terest to becoming involved. Students ave two concerns right now: first we have the cuts in ir sfers payments, which directly affects each and ery student at UPEI. We ALL havea stake in these issues and if you would personally like to help us out on our camapign, please let us know. We all have to work together for our voice to be heard. Very important to note is the addition of Dunkin’ Donuts at the Barn. This should prove to be very helpful for staying awake during those 8:30 classes!!! Note as well, the crosswalk on University Avenue...long overdue but its finally there!!
