A boat from the Magclellne Is- lands arrived in port. on Saturdav, after a stormy passage in which considerable ice was encountered. This boat had a load of herring for lobster bait, whiih was bought by the local psolrelra and unloaded early in the week. The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Howard 5. Macbean on the death of their infant daughter, in the Charlottetown Hospital early in the week. Funeral service was held at Georgetown on Monday with Rev. 0. Kiggins officiating, and interment was in St. James Roman Catholic Cemetery. Engineers of the Provincial De- partment of Public Works have completed staking the road frcm Poole's Garage to Georgetown, having staked Main and Water streets on Tuesday. As previously announced in the press, the Gov- ernment intends paving the road this summer and any necessary work in preparation will no doubt be started in the very near future. During the first week of the Lobster Fishing season, the fisher- men in this area were favoured wlth exceptionally fine weather and ice- free conditions. The resultwas tint good runs were made and traps were all placed in the water within a day or so after the season open- ed. Inshore fishermen have so far reported fairly light catches but they anticipate an early improve- ment. some of the men who fish on ground farther out in the Gulf had a very good weeks total catch, with some averaging around the two thousand pound mall: and several of the top fishermen working close to the three thousand pound mark for the opening week.
