WEDDING BELLS.- The home of Mr. and Mrs. Smith Pettigrew, New- ville, was the scene of a pretty wed- ding on Wednesday evening, Sept. 17th, when their daughter, Ellen Mae, was united in marriage to Mr. Bent I.. Skidmore of Amherst, N. S. The ceremony was performed -by Rev. C H. C. McLaren, assisted by Rev. J. W. Prestwood, in the presence of about 200 guests. Precisely at. 7.31) p. m., the bride, who was given away by her father, took her place beneath an arch of autumn leaves erected in the garden. She was cbarmingly ai- `\ tired in a gown of white duchcss sa- itin with pearl trimmings, and wore n long flowing veil, with wreath of orange blossoms. The com- petition is to take place at Halifax at the beginning of next month. The trophy takes the shape of a really splendid shield, consisting of a hand- some design ol bronze of an oaken shield. At the head of the centre design, a noble lion reclines royally, beneath him being two crossed rifles' over a smaller shield encircled by n smaller shield encircled by 9, belt of cartridges. On each side of that smal- ler shield stands the figure of a rifle- man in full military outfit, while up- on it is the following inscription: "Presented by Senator William Den- nis,' 1913, for annual team competi- tion in the Sth Division at Halifax, N. S." Such a gift is worthy ofthe highest commendation, having as it does the notable object of not alone promoting rifle shooting, among the Forces, but creating a rivalry that while being healthy is bound to have l a beneficial effect on the efficiency at the range of the various units en- gaged. The condltions of the com- petition are as follows:-The Dennis Trophy is to be shot for at the Bed- 1913. Teams to be composed of eight members of any unit in the Sth Di- vision. A unit may enter more than _ one unit team. Ranges, 500,600,- 800 and 900 yards. Rules of the Do- minion of Canada Rifle Association are to govern. Each team is to pro- vide its own ammunition; any am- munition suitsble for the service Rifle is permissible.
