"PAGE TWELVE Golden Wedding ME. AND MR-S. J. A. O'BRIEN On Sept. 24th last. Mr. and Mrs. James A. O'Brien of Morell Vii- lage had the very great privilege of celebrating their "'Golden Wed- ding". In the morning they attended Mass at St. Lawrence Church. Mo- rell Rear. and knelt side by .side at the same communion rail. where fifty years ago they pledged their marriage vows. Mass was celebrated by the pas- tor, Rev. Phalen McKenna.' ap- propriate hymns were sung by the choir. and nuptial music played by Mrs. George Christian. Tuck decided. looking at it with unpci-ejudicod eyes, that it was the most extravagantly ridiculous hat he had ever seen. Although dressed entirely in severe black. Bernice had allowed herself one flourish. The hat which topped her sleek coiffure was made entirely of pink feathers. overlapping as do the feathers of a bird. George Hastings on before dinner Leighman and Moira testified. I.elghman's brief evidence prov- ed that Albert had pai-taken of nothing but black coffee during theirchat in the cafe before din- ner. Under questioning from the coroner he elaborated on his rela- tionship to the dead man and his wife. when he spoke of Victoria. his voice was warm with admira- tion and friendliness. Moira. Hastings provided the highlight of the day. and the only surprise for Tuck. she was also in black. with a little white jeweled collar. Her eyes were jewels, too. and looked too heavily made up in the revealing light. Her voice was soft and clear--the voice of a lady. She did not cross her legs. Her hat was as noticeable as 'Ber- nlce's had been. but in a happier way. It was a little round tipped box covered with small gleaming stones like those sewn to her col- lar. Tl-!F. GUARDIAN.
