M.A., professor of Eiiglish at St. Dun- tan's Univcrisity, addressed the graduates. in a masterly spcccii, Mr. O'Grady stated that the word success is often taken to mean the attainment of wealth, social stand- ing, and worldly renown: but if this is really the meaning of success, we must say that Joan of Arc failed: St. Thomas Acquinas failed: St. Francis of Assisi failed; St. Thomas More failed: and even Christ the Son of God failed. The aim of every Christian, the speaker said. should be to attain, not "suc- cess", but sanctity; for only in holiness is happiness to be found; and according to Leon Bioy, "The only unhappiness is not to be saints." Mr 0Grady's eloquence as well as the earnestness and sincerity with which he delivered his soul- stirring nicssage kept the audience spell-(bound during his incpiring address.
