He completed the course in the record breaking time of one hour and nine seconds. His closest rival in a Viki | finish, Maurice “Sparky” Lodge of Moncton, led in the gruelling race at times and crossed the finish line only 28 seconds after the winner. Third p'ace went to Lawson _ Biggar of Bedeque who finished in an hour and 39 minutes, the fast- est previous time for the long swim in 1957 when Mr. Lodge won in an hour and 37 minutes. Gloria Arsenault of Bloomfield, | the only lady contestant this year, completed the course in two hours and 15 minutes. Davison Biggar has now won the three-mile swim on three oc- cas'ons. Maurice Lodge, a com testant ever since the swim was initiated, has won /twice and placed second threeAi ‘ Gloria Arsenault, who failed to complete the course last was complimented for her de- termination in coming back again to w'n the first prize fo> ladies. A cold wet day made things most uncomfortable for the .arge number of spectators but wind and tides favoured the swimmers and accounted for the record breaking times.
