The yonng man and his wife went bravely to work to follow his ad- vice. If it was necessary to dine ona head of boiled cabbage and salt they did so and never grumbled. Every payment was promptly met. The ezg money, and the butter money, and the corn and wheat money—all went into the payment-box, and at a specified time the lot was theirs. There was an invisible wealth about such hard-earned possessions that common observers ame nothing of. On the day of the last payment the young man presented himself before his friend witha smiling face and with the money in his hand. | There were no rags to be seen, but his, clothing was well covered with darsn from head to foot. ‘ You see I have followed your advice,’ he said, casting a glunce over himself, ‘ aid my wife looks worse than I do, earned tne farm, and now Ll know how to oarn another.’ Care or BepsTEADs.—Old-fashoned housekeepers always selected and set aside the last Friday of the March moon (which often brings it into April) for cleaning and poisoning their bed- steads. It was always known as ‘ bed- bug day ’; not that they had any super- stition in the day, but because it was the proper season of the year for that work. Of all mixtures tor killing these vermin, balf'an ounce of corrossive sub- limate in a pintof alcohol is the surest. Have a_ botile well labeled and handled carefully, for it is a very strong poison. Apply with a small brush (kepttor that purpose only) to the unvarnished parts of the bedsteads. If there is reason to suppose the bedstead is unsafe, spread an old sheet on the floor under it, so that if any drop they can be seen. Poison the bedstead before you dust it or take it apart; then take it apart gently and poison the tenons, etc., and let dry in. This kills all the bugs and their eggs without scattering them through the room; afterwards dust, scrub cloan, and poison again. Bed- steads should be carefully examined very often, for bugs multiply fearfully and can make you an immense amount amount of labor and trouble.—Country Gentleman. Harpine, Esq., Brockville, Ont. :— DEAR Sik—It is now two years since your “‘Censtitutional Catarrh Remedy’ was intro- duced to me. I have waited this ong to see if the cure would remain permanent before do- ing this, my duty, to you, as at first the happy effects seemed to me to be ‘‘too good to true.” I was afflicted in my head for years before I suspected it to be Catarrh. In reading in your Circular I saw my case described in many par. ticulars. The inward ‘‘drop”’ from the head had become very disagreeable, and a choking sensation often preventing me from lying long, I would feel like smothering and be compelled to sit upin the bed. My health and spirits were seriously affected. When your agent came to Walkertown in August, 1876, I secured three bottles, Before I had used a quarter o the contents of one bottle I found decided re- lief, and when I had used two bottles and a third, I quit taking it, feeling quite cured of that ailment, and have not used any since until of late I have taken some for a cold in my head. A sense of duty to sufferers from that loath- some disease, Catarrh, prompts me to send you this Certificate, unsolicited, with leave to make what use of it yon may see proper. Yours truly, W. TINDALL, Methodist Minister. Port Elgin, Ont., Aug. 24, 1878. Ask for Littlefield’s Constitutional Catarrh Remedy and take no other. T. J. B. Harpine, Dominion Agent, Brock- ville, Ont.
