Since there are only a cou— ' ple of weeks left, I will try to’include as many important facts in the next reports as possible. In my previous articles, I have tried to shit on what— ever I felt should be shit on. So, today after all that shitting, I would like to point’out Some of the good things happening in the co- rrections here in P.E.I. This is not to say that there are no more bad things to talk about‘but just to let everyone know where I stand concerning the issue. There will be more bad stuff next week. ' ‘ ) I am quite happy to admit that I've had it pretty good for the last 2/3 of my time. The national parole system is really good. After ser- ving 1/3 of your time if you have a job or go to school and prove yourself worthy during the first l/3 of your time, every possible break is given to you to prepare you for "returning to so- called society". While on ' day-parole, I was given two week-ends off and on'a third week-end I was allowed to ‘ attend a conference in Hali- fax. Now that is a pretty lenient parole system. I am out for an average of nine hours every week day, which is ample time to do my stud— ies and even visit a few ‘friends (and even females) (Thelow Students councfl Photos Absent: Stan Dalton: Senate Rep Irene McCardle: Senate Rep 3. ddes “'UU ' " CUM.qu éirt 0f the Sciance keys. Paul Durant; Senior Cla ’Craig MacDowall; Junior Class Vice—President ‘Marhié Cain: Soohomére‘ David cairns Bill Chandler * ‘ besides. one note which sho- uld be made here is that if you fuck—up while on this system, you lose everything and remain in the back part of the jail for the remain- der of your time. One guy “got caught passing pills to another guy and lost his \parole completely. So you can't fuck—up. The island system of parole Xtemporary leave) which is used before national parole comes or if national parole is not issued, is not nearly as lenient as national but they'll let you have some- thing important to do. These two systems of parole are ample proof that the boys in blue are quite ready to give you a break as long as you prove yourself worthy. (And that's good.) The next point that I would like to bring up is that the ere are a lot of people aro—~ und the jail (even some guards) who are really_trying to get some of the stupid ‘ -§ules changed so as to orm an orderly but not ridiculous daily routine. VThis was pointed out to me the other night after I had been stripped right down when entering the jail. Now the rules say that a "full- stripped" search is required everytime someone enters the .jail, but it could certain— ly get to be a drag after awhile, especially on cold wet nights. I would certainly hope that this group of interested people are also pushing for a more varied activities pro— gram and a few other things needed around here. Well, that's all the good ‘things I can think of right now, although I'm sure there are more, if anyone wants to point them out. I think it's more fun to point out the bad ones. Next week I'm going to tell you about the funniest riot I was ever involved in. So until then keep cool and stay out of trouble.
