PRATING OF AGE TIBESOMIB HABIT The woman who feels a compuls- ion to talk about growing old should curb the impulse for her own sake and for the sake of her friends. First of all. she is being unfair to herself when she airs this sub- ject. Her talk of age simply od- vertises her years. Secondly such talk can be very annoying to fem- inine contemporaries who aren't so anxious to admit their years. Talk of growing old can also be embarrassing to other people who are put in the position of having to make tactful denials to the wo- man with this irritating sge com- plex. People who are required to say, “Of course. you're not getting old" or "No one can be induced to believe that you are a day over 30," usually resent having to defend a woman against her own verbal at- tacks. Perhaps the reason any woman goes in for this sort of thing is that she wants to be reassured that she ls still young. If that's what she wants, the best way to accomplish her purpose is to feel young and to talk and act that way.
