Another of the oldest resident-B of Belfast passed away during the week in the person of Mrs. Donald Nicholson of Orwell Cove, at the ldvauccd age of 92 years. Mr. Wilson Murchison, Point Prim. had the misfortune of losinl a very fine looking and valuable young horse by drowning on Pint-tie River on Jan 11. The horse was tied in the yard at George Dochertyb when it took rrisht from an unusually noisy car that was passing. 1t started to run t0- wards the bridge and wasgoing so fast it was impossible to make the , so it jumped across the rail, . etting clear oi the wagon and went out on the ice and made for the uhgnriel. A large crowd gather- ed and a boat was procured but the horse being on the north side of the bridge, and the ice was in such a condition that going out in. a. boat would be inviting disaster to human life. The horse was in ' the water between one and two hours and the spectators report that it made-a desperate effort for life. Going through the arch of the bridge it struck one of the piles which turned it completely over and evidently took water in its illllss as it gradually grew weaker immediately afterward.
