thn of an accident in the woods at
Rod Bank, passed thioiigh the city
this morning en route to his home
in Tigniah, P. E. I. Mr. Perry was :it
work in the woods as a chopper for
Murdock Sutlicrland, with head
cnmp st Red Bank, near Newcastle.
Yesterday afternoon in the act of
telling a big birch, the axe glanced,
and struck his foot between the toes.
The axe tore its_wuy about half way
through the mnn’s foot, and he was
rendered almost unconscious by the
loss of blood. The men immediately
hitched up a tclim, and conveyed him
to Newcastle, where 'l')r. Sproul, at-
tended to his injuries. He was toll
that it would bc at least six months
heforc' he would be able to walk
without crutches, and the unfortun-
ate man, very much disheartened,
went home today. He is unmarried,

feature of the afternoon service was
an address by Rev. Uanon Gould.

gathering of delegates and members,
when Sir Andrew Fraser addressed
the congregation. Among the clergy

from exhaustion of Miss Avis Smith
Jackman, novelist und- short; story
writer, was announced here today.
She died late yesterday nt her home
on Madison Avenue, after having
nursed tier mother who is ill with
pneumonia, day and night, until the
crisis of the sickness was passqd
safely. Although Miss Jackman was

ful, once, she died penniless, and a
charitable organization will. have
charge of the funeral, and take core
of the m ther and sister.
