After they are thoroughly saturated the patient takes them up one st a time and rubs them briskly up and down on a washboard placed in the tub. An exceptionally large num- ber witnessed the game, and every good ' peice of play or score was greeted with thunderous applause. Thc game was called about 8.15 and, as the teams lined tip, it was hard to judge from their appearance what the issue ot' the game would be. The on- lookers- were not kept very long in suspense however, for the swift Alber- ton septlllo soon began to rush things, and‘the visitors were forced to take the defensive during the greater part of the game. During the first few mln- tites the playing was restricted chiefly to the Stars’ territory, and Dorsey. was kept rather busy for at while. Af- ter about fifteen niinutes play the Home Team made the first and’ only score during the first half. During the st-coinl halt' the playing was much fus- tor, as both teams appeared to hc get- ting warmed up to it. Some very spectacular runs were made at the beginning of the second half which elicited much applause from the on- lookers. The ltegnls, after a few min- utes play scored number two. follow- ed with short intervals, by numbers, three, four and live. The visitors tried again and again to find the net but all to no avail. The game ended 5-0 in favor ol' the home team. Despite some roughness, which is very hard to elim- lnute the game was decidedly good from start to finish. Judging from subsequent comment the Stars of Al- berton were Murphy and Arsenault, and though the members of the 0'- Leary Team are all "Stars" the only real constellation was I. Ellis. The Itlnkophone furnished excellent music which was greatly ctiioyetl by thosc who took advantage of the hours skate after the game. Special trains convey- ed a large number of passengers from Tignish and O,l.eury. The line-up was as follows:- Regals. Goal, A. Lewis, Point W. Arsenault; Cover Point, A. E. Murphy; Centre, J. They could only be applied to Agriculture as it has been explained by the proposer. Good arguments were offered on both sides, but the dispute rcitclir-tl xi climax when ii member in favor ol' practice miidn the statement, that apart from practising and experimenting Oil UW fnrni, one could read books and nt-ws papers which at times could give him some information and thereby help him along. Ilis opponents checked hlui however, by saying that the man of practise was not permitted to con- sultury books or any papers to Sain knowledge of farming, as the moment he learned anything by reading it was Theory. The President was then ask- ed to explain the 'iiature of the ques- tloti, and he did so with great precis- ion. The inuu of theory as he under- stood it, was to acquire knowledge by reading presumably in College or other places of learning. The man of practice had to experiment on his farm and to gain knowledge thereby. The majority was_ln favor of practise. -M. _ _.i'_.__ -ABRAM'S_ VlLLAGE.- On Fri- day evening the ‘22nd lust., as Mr. Mathurini Gallant ot' Abrum’s Village had occasion to drive to Capt Eg- mond, he decided to extend his jour- ney and give ai cali to Mr. Lean D. ,Are-snault of Maxiiiiville, having in his mind no doubt, the challenge issued out sometime ago' by Mr. Arsenault who invited anyone for a friendly game of crokinole. Mr. Gallant how- ever considered himself at ti disad- vantage as he had not his chosen -partner, Mr. Arscnault then .suggested that they play singlc handed as he did not wish to win nnytliing but a fair game. This agreed, the two players sa; nown to play best out of three, the two llrst gaines being won by Mr. Ar- senault. Mr. Gallant then asked for a second heat and the result was the same as befurc. This will no doubt strengthen the confidence Mr. Arse- nault had ot' himself as a player. but it may be pcrsumed that he will have another tackle with Mr. Gallant soon.
