Schemes of the Prasbyterian Church, $768 to other religious and benevolent objects, | while the Sabbath collections amounted to} 2,500. The trustees were able to meet all liabilities and show a small balance on} hand, A statement of the debt was sub. | mitted, showing that in i886 the bounded debt was $10,100 Since that date there have been expended on what may. be cailed capitsl account, about $3,000 Oo the first of next February, after cover- | ing this outlay of $3,000 and providing meantime for the ordinary running ex- penses of the congregation, the -total debt will be $7,200. Tue Rev. Father Gillis lectured in St. Patrick's Hall last night, under the auspices of the League of the Cross, to a large and attentive audience. His subject was *‘ A Trip from the Atlantic to the Pacitic and Back.” Rev. Father McAulay occupied the chair. The lecturer described his trip | on the Canadian Pacific Railway across ihe! continent to British Columbia, dwelling on the various puints of interest ou the route. His description of the scenery of the Rocky Mountains was grand, and was fully appre- ciate’ by the audience, who paid the greatest attention to sll that he said. He gave a short account of many of ‘the’ cities which he visited, and told of many Island- ers he met, all of whom were prospering and many of whom were wealthy.
