Dear Srir,—In your issue of yesterday's date you give an account of a raid that has recently been made upon a house of ill-fame, in the western part of this city. and while | agree with you that due publicity should be given to such, | cannet understand why you paper the names of the unfortunate females, leniency you rewerve the name of the oifending ‘* young man”—thereby attaching the scandal te every young man in this town, equally. It is high time that the Press asserted that independence in these matters which it claims distinction was made between those who re- spect and obey the laws of God and man, and those who violate and disregard both. Yours truly, CYPHER. [It was simply out of respect to the feel- ings of the parents of the youth referred to, and not for want of *‘ independence” that we refrained from publishing his name. But apart from this, the distinction be- tween the women and the youth is almost as clear as that between the net and the victim who falls into it.—Ep. Examiner. | oak © Special Notices.
