Home &_Co.-_S DIED IN IIALIFAK-The death occurred in Halifax Friday last of Mrs. Hodgson, widow of the late S. F. I-Iodgscn of Charlottetown. Mrs. Hodgson had been living in Hali- fax with her daughter. Mrs. Jamie- son. She was a most estlmable wo- man, and the news of her death will be learned with deep regret here. The funeral will take place in 'Charlottetown tomorrow. ..‘°WEl.L KNOWN RESIDENT- The death occurred at Lower Mon- tague of Daniel Laundry, after a short illness which he bore with patience and resignation to God's holywill. He was visited frequent- ly by his pastor Rev. O. Kiggins who administered to him the last rites of the Roman Catholic Church. His passing was so gradual and peace- ful that it was difficult to note taken its flight. .He was of an ex- cellent character, loved by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn be- sides his sorrowing mother, one sis- ter, Margaret, and two brothers in U. S. A., who have the sympathy of the whole community. M.P.. for Dundee, and formerly M.P. for West Stirling- shire. Mr. Johnston was one of over a dozen of the party attend- ing St. James Church yesterday forenoon. and after the sermon in- quired for Mr. J. M. Hunter. Archi- tect. with whom he used to travel daily to Glasgow to school and college. The two met at Govern- ment House at the Governor‘s re- ception. and had a most enjoyable re-union. Mr. Johnston is editor of "Forward," a Labour weekly. pub- lished in Glasgow, and the author of “The History of the Working Classes of Scotland," and “Our No- ble Families," etc. He is greatly interested in the development .of Inter-Imperial trade, and- intends on his retum home. dealing in Parliament with the inadequacy of the British cable news service to Canada. -FURTHER, PARTICULARS - From an account given in the Cal- gary Herald we learn that Mrs. Duncan. wife of Mr. G. W. Dun- can, of Bummerslde. was killed by_ an auto whilst crossing the street, to attend the regular Wednesday* evening service at Hillhurst United Church, Calgary, on Wednesday of, last week. She had been driven to the curb opposite the church by her rdaughter-in-law, Mrs. W. Duncan. with whom she resided and in cross-_, ing the street seemed to hesitate for a moment and then walk for-; ward to be struck by the door and also the back fender of a passing car. She was carried into a neigh- boring resldence, Rev. and Mrs. Grant assisting, and all possible was done, but the poor lady died al- most immediately. She had resid- ed for some years with her son, Dr. W. M. Duncan, and was wide- ly known and highly respected throughout the city and was a de- vout Christian lady and a. regular church attendant. lntennent was in the Union Cemetery at-Calgary on Friday of last week, the services at the home and grave being conf ducted by Rev.
