He said he hoped the Lord would forgive Howell as he did. He wonld rather be in his own position than Howell's, I got to Wallace’s about o'clock the morning after the shooting. Heury showed me the place when Howell atoud, stood. He also showed where Wallace fell after being shoi. There was a little blood there. He also pointed out Howell's tracks. tween where Howell stood and Wailace fell the snow was hard, Howell stood on a bank and the track appeared as if he, had made one step forward and then another backward and went off. Cross-examined by Mr. Hodgson—The footsteps did not appear as if there had been a seufile. There was nothing in the steps that would lead me to disbelieve that Howell! made at Wallace with the gun when he was going towards him. Anice Supspvury was called on behalf of the Crown. The Attorney General in- formed the Court that this witness knew nothing about the case, and he merely caiied her because her name appeared on the back of the indictment; and for the purpose of tendering her for cross-examin- ation. Mr. Hodgson said that, as she knew nothing, he had nothing to ask her. EXAMINATION OF MILLIE SUDSBURY. Mriture Supsevry (sworn) — Examined by the Attorney General—i know the pris- oner in the dock. I live in Princetown, five or six yards from Howell's. I was at home the night of the shooting. I was in Howell's house also the night of the shooting. When the prisoner came home he said to me he did a dreadful deed. I asked what wasthat. He said he had shot William Wallace. I asked him if he was sorry for it. He said: ‘‘No; he wished he had shot both legs instead of one.” His wife was the only one I saw in the house at the time. I went out and over to Wajiiaces. Dr. Keir, the women and Henry Wallace were there. William Wal- lace the deceased was in bed. I remained a little while. Cross-examined by Mr. Hodgson—I am no friend of Mary Blackmore. 1 worked two summers at the lobster factory. I was over at Howell's twice that night, and Tom Murphy was with me the second time. It was between eight and nire o'clock when I was there the first time. I[ heard Howell threatening often, but I did not mind him. To the Attorney-General—Howell also told Murphy about the shooting, but I do not know what it was. Dear Docror,—Just a few Tines as promised by me. I am more than pleased with the ‘* Liver Pad” I got from you when in Char- lottetown, and can conscientivusly say that it is the best thing I ever saw or heard of. It has done for me what all kinds of medicine and different physicians could not do for me— i. e., removed a very nasty body erupt'on, which had given me a great deal of annoy- ance for more than two years; and, more than that, I have not been troubled with a single headache since I have used it, Before wear- ing the Pad I was troubled with severe head- achés continually; and that very objectionable feeling of sluggishness and dullness has 4 entirely lett me—in fact ] am anew man, to what I was before wearing it. 1 am truly thankful to you for what you have done for me, and I hope that you may be lopg spared to the benefit of the public.
