Recently, the English Court of Queen’s Berch struck a solicitor off the rolls under the following circumstances: The com- plainant, the wife of a porter, had retained him to defend an action brought against her father for a breach of agreement. It was necessary that she should obtain the production of the original agreement, which was in the plaintiff’s possession. The lawyer represented to her that it would cost £1 6s 8d, namely, one pound to the opposite lawyer, and 6s 8d for costs. She accordingly gave him thatsum.
