B., whose home is in Charlottetown, ls having a. rather serious time of it these days. Last week two of his children were laid low with typhoid fever, _and since than one one of them has developed peritonitis. Tuesday Dr. Rsnkinc was- summoned from Woodstock to assist the local phy- sicians. A third child has also been attacked with typhoid and the house is a veritable hospital. Miss Phillips n trained nurse, is with the family. It develops that the well from which the family gets its drinking water is fairly alive with typhoid bacteria |.:\nd the whole family is threatened. Mr. Ross was to have exchanged pul- llits With‘Rev.v P. A. Fitzpatrick here on Sunday, but of course, under thof circumstances this is impossible. Mlwh BYm‘P8-lilly is felt for the rever- .cnd gentleman and his family in thcin affliction. "MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHI'NG”- "Draperies on dresses may be pretty and fashionable and they may con- ceal the manner of fastening, but I don't ever want to have anything to do with one again," remarked a Charlottetown lady yesterday. ` And it is the opinion or the writer cnet' he meant it. , For thereby goes ai SIOFYI Recently the lady had been out rather late to an entertainment at a iriend’s home. She wore a dress than was fastened together in a puzzling manner. It was impossible for her to get into it alone, although she “ne- ver for one instant dreamed that she could not get out of it." She came home from her friends to find t..... everybody was asleep. She had told the members of the family not. to wait up for her as she would not_ need any assistance. but she-__wes,s9r-` ry for the order when she found that try how she would -she could not get- out of the dress. -Would she sleep in it? No, that would be very uncom- fo_rta,hle, and she tried again to un- fasténthe garment. 'After aboutsn hour-'s work she managed 'to 'pull' the oilending seams apart, but the dressl was a_ hopeless wreck. It was minus* hooks and eyes and the lining was _ripped in a. number of places. She ,did not, mind that, however. It was truly a relief to get out of the "thingy and she declares that it will have to be made over before she will wear it again. ‘ _ AN INTERESTING Sl’ECTACLE.-- In the Charlottetown harbour yester- day morning was witnessed a spect- acle of great ‘interest and of alike unequalled within recent years. The rough weather that has prevailed during the past week caused a n\\m- ber of small and large sailing craft alike to 'seek shelter within the_ hav-` en afforded by Charlottetown’s si'\eH~ did harbour, and also there were a number of vessels that had discharg- ed and loaded here that would not venture'out in ` the heavy seas and high winds that were reportcd_to be raging in the. Strait. There was one .vessel indeed which entered the liar- bour under bare poles, a. condition in which she had driven before the wind for many hours previous to her seeking the shelter of Charlottetown. Thus there was quite a fleet anchor- 'ed within the mouth of the harbour awaiting the abatemdnt of the stormy weather outside. Yesterriny’s fins weather gave them an opportun- ,ity they awaited. Taking immediate advantage of the fine spell, the whole fleet set sail in the earl? morning. There werp between twenty and-thirty of them and they made sail almost simultaneously; the .scene of so many vessels sailing our. of the harbour at practically the same time being exceptionally anim- ated and interesting. .::Guaiacol Emulsion- The time is here when you 'should' protect your- self against the cold and changes in weather.
