jbcen held an exhibition by the firm of
' James Paton 8: Co., who have just made
an addition to their already large store.
Heretofore this firm has handled almost
everything such a store can handle save
furniture and Mr. Paton, feeling there
was a qood opportunity in this line for a
furtherdisplay of his mercantile abilities,
has added a building of three storeys,
containing almost live thousand square
feet devoted entirely to house furnishings
A couple of corners, in this building are
shown in the two accompanying illustra- I
tions.
The opening was carried elf with great
success, as befitted the time and money
spent in the preparation for the event.
Special decorations were made in all the
depart ments; furnished sample rooms
were a feature, and a brass band, added to
" the enjoyment of the many who attend-
ed.
The store as it now stands has well con-
ducted departments in dress goods,
staples, small wares, 'millinery and trim-
mings, underwear. men’s furnishings,
ribbons, mantles, ready to wear hats,
clothing and carpets and house furnish-
ings, each in charge of an experienced
manager. There is about twenty thousand ,
square feet of floor space and over iifty
employees are constantly employed.
