Joék Talk , UPEI 25-U_NB 7 And, from where we sat, it did not look that close. While the Panthers held play and territorial ad- vantage in the first half, they nevertheless came off the field at the time with only a 7-7 deadlock. The seCond half was a different‘ story as they dominated the second-half in the manner _that has characterized their performances in lea- gue play this season (point against them in the second half in their 4 games this season) with the Acadia and S.M.U. looming ahead we think that rehashing the play in the U.N.B. game would be rather pointless except that we'd like to Comment on the fact that we have never seen‘a game START with an onside kick.. When this was sucessful and with about a minute gone, we were ahead 7-0. we never expected to see this unus— ual play repeated..it wast! and we nearly got away with it again! In my ancient day this type of football was THE CADRE, TUES., OCT. 53, 1973 Page 11 called "Dipsy—doodle". While engaged in a pro- longed & acrimonious debate with that incorrigible ch— aracter Gerry Bell (whom we like very much) we were -told by one of our fans that we were wanted at the stadium box office where they were supposed to be looking for payment FROM US for the 100 seats that our Student Union had asked be set aside (with the unfor- tunate occurrences at other stadia in mind) for our group. we had had nothing to do with this and all we knew was that PAYMENT had not been contemplated and that, as far as we knew, all of our fans had paid admission. When we were later called for over the Public Address system, we decided that discretion -would be better than they valour we do not feel we possess so we hastily grew .a headful of long hair, a scruffy beard, donned dark glasses and Bob Gray's green stocking cap, and thus disguised, we limped over to Vera's hospitable bus & were whisked out of Town. A long Weekend in Fredericton's Debtor Goal was not an appealing pros- pect. This brings us to our point...our students were charged admission at St. F.X. and U.N.B. There was no charge at Dalhousie & visiting students are wel— comed, without charge, at our own MacAdam Field. Why should our students pay at outside points when visit— For an education in quality. .. Here's an introduction to lulius Schmid condoms that's an education in quality and sensitivity. Our "BOO" of the week goes to those who reserved spaaa on the bus, did not pay, and did not let the Student Union know they would not be honouring their reserv- ations. The bus trip was great fun, by the way & Vera is terrific. The Fall Festival starts on the 25th & the Panther Booster Club is sponsoring 2 Hockey games at the Forum on the 25th and 28th. Sir George Williams & Loyola in that order..both were listed in the top _fiVe in Canada last season so this will be a good chance to see if Vince Mulligan is correct when he says that we'll be in there again this year. Have a happy Fall Festival & GO PANTHERS GO!!!!!!!!!!! FROM THE DISTAF'F So much emphasis is going on men's sports it occured to me that about half the student body is female and we have athletics toollAnd as I am often reminded the girls pay athletic fees!! The thought made me talk to Barbara Mullaly from whom I got information on the two sports currently being em— phasized by "OUR" side. In Field Hockey this is our first year in the Sen- ior Intercollegiate League after being Intermediate Champions last year. To date we have won one, tied three and lost only one game. Top scorers are Shirley Mokler and Mary .Bradley‘and we are getting real good goalkeeping from Sandra Dunsford who has moved into the nets after being a forward last year. Remaining games will have our girls at X, Dal and Acadia and Memorial here on October 27. In Basketball, conditioning‘ begins October 24 with try- outs starting November 5 & Coach Barb Mullaly has high hopes for a good turnout and a successful season with last years returnees and a large number of Freshmen trying to make the squad. * lst. home game will be Dec: 7 when the UNB Red Bloomers Visit us..
