TRINITY UNITED CI-`l'U'RL‘II ` would greet their king with the joy- ous salutatlon, “Hail to the King", and it is with the same joyous spirit of expectancy, hope and optimism that our congregation greet our new ministers who come to us this week. All the activities of the church will soon be set in motion and the an- nouncement was made that com- mencing next Sunday the different classes in the Sunday School will re- sume regular sessions, the School starting at 2.30 p. m. A cordial ili- vitation is given to all United stu- dents who come to our city this week to attend our Sunday School. Rev. Dr. Ryan completed his spec- ial erigagelnerit on Sunday and took occasion to speak of his love for this Church and its congregation. He de- clared that the richest and most blessed years of his life were those of his ministry here and recalled the enthusiasm and the happy experi- ence on the formation of this United Church, and bespoke for our new Ministers, the sympathetic co-opera- tion and support of all our people. Rev. Mr. Barbour arrived on Satur- day and Rev. Hugh Miller and wife came by motor last evening. Both Mr. and Mrs. Miller were received and welcomed at the parsonage by a number of members of the church. The Presbytery of P. E. Thus we enter upon a new era in our Church life and may we “reach forth unto those things which are before." i i nipeg. at the last General Synod held in 1931. Dr. Matheson retired some years ago. Professor Kendall, having return- ed from his holidays, presided at the organ with ills usual ability and the soloists lor the day were Prof. A. W. Trueman of Mount Allison in the morning and Mrs. W. A. Jeri~ki.ris at night. 'lhe flowers were presen- ted in loving memory of Mrs. Har- vey Sterns. It will be freely admitted that Rev. Dr. Ryan preached two of the most helpful and appreciative ser- mons on Sunday of the whole series of excellent sermons during his sev- en week’s stay. In the morning scr- vice his text was 1 Peter 4-8: "Above all things have fervent charity u- mong yourselves .i".\r charity shall cover a lnultltude of sins." At the close of a delightful sermon on the elements and definition of love and how St. Paul, St. Peter and St. John had exalted it to the supreme place in the Christian life, he referred to an incident in the life of Dr. Joseph Fort Newton, who was called to tha pulpit of the City Temple in London, Eng., and on his first Sunday before entering the pulpit he noticed a beautiful bouquet on the vestry table with a. note on which was written, “We have not come to criticize you, but to sympathize and pray for you", and said Dr. Ryan "If you greet your new ministers in that spirit, they 6801101; fail, they must succeed." At night, Dr. Ryan‘s text was from Rev. 22-17: “The Spirit and the bride say, come and let him that heareth say come, and let him that is athlrst come. And whosoever will let him take of the water ofsife f1'_€€1Y-" The day‘s service closed with the singing oi’ “Blest be the tie that binds oii.r hearts in Christian love."
