We of this generation suffer more from brain troubles, says Dr. Mortimer Granville, simply because we have left off wearing night caps. Dr. Granville was left to this hypothesis by observing that many people not habitnally given to dreams, had been dreanting a good deal during the recent cold nights; the cold was much felt, and the head, being uncovered, had the blood supplied to it driven from the surface to the brain, and hence light sleep and dreams. Many famous men of letters in former times have held ‘‘night caps” of one kind to be ‘the proper inspiration; but the brain-workers in this more sober age should clearly take advantage of the return of milder weather to lay in a stock of night caps in the /iteral sense.
