The Bishop seems (to fairly bubble over with bible knowledge, sometimes repeating long elections of it by heart, to prove . point, In the evening, inspite of very wet weather the church was fairly well filled. The subject of the sermon was Paul before Fel x, and the discourse was most touching and eloquent. It wasasermon of such power that we alicm hear or feel. If Paul spoke to Felix as did the Bishop last ea no wonder the heathen judge trem. led. The afternoon meeting was devoted to a meditation on repentance and was partici - pated io by a large number. _ The Bishop holds another bible reading in St. Paul’s today at 4p. m., and the usual service at 7 30 p. m. } . iis - ee ee COUNTY COURT. M mnt- i | : | | od Leb i dian Order of Foresters dinner, C: _ ST. ANDREW'S DINNER ---A CONTRAST. Sir,— With all due deference to the gentlemen who attended St. Andrew’s dinner, and without insinuating for a moment that there is anything wrovg in holding ap innocent feast, I would humbly submit to the consciences of these genth— meob the que Stion, whether they think their manner of celebrating the day was the one most acceptatle to Gol? Oa that day, in one Church at least, thousands all over the W ide world were on their knees praying that the Lerd of St = Apn- drew might lead the people to do what Andrew did, namely, find their lost brethren and bring them o Jesus. Ir Andrew were now on earth I wonder which of the two gatherings he would have been most likely to attend. Even under more favorable circumstances, it is ofte. difficult to see the difference between the conscience of the so-called liberal or nomi- nal Christian and that of the heathen; but if the teachers of the people throw their influence on that side the confusion is worse confounded, A WatcHer or THe TiMeEs. -- @eeace ——--——— ---—~ A QUESTION, Sir,— Would “ A Charch—goer ”,not rise if the Bishop came into a drawing-room where he was?
