SHIPWRECK AT MAGDALENE
ISLANDS.-Captain Taylor of the
Marine Department was iiotilied by
wire last night that a vessel was
wrecked on Byron Island. one of the
Magdalene group. and asking for
assistance. The Stanley left at 8.30
to take off the crew.
OF LOCAL INTEREST.-Lieut.
Chas. B.‘Pitblado, son of John Pit-
blado, Montreal, and grandson of the
late Rev. C. B. Pitblado, D. D., at
one time pastor of Chalmers Church,
Halifax, is a prisoner at Gottersloe,
Westphalia, Germany. Lieut Pltbla-
do was with the Royal Highlanders, of
' Canada.

“I am out of the trenches again' and l
without going out once for six`teen|
days. it surely was a long time, but
we had very few casualties in all that |
time. l was in full charge of about a I
couple of hundred yards of our line
most of the time as we did not have
as many oiiicors as there are usually.

he was for some time vice-principal of
the Alexandra school.
Continuing his letter lie says: “Wo
