Carnival directors have been working since last year in preparation for what they vow is the best show to be seen on Prince Edward Island during centennial year. And just imaginellii Seven days of it. years the carnival this year with so much action in store ac- tivities in connection with the annual affair got underway yes- terd Last year, as in other years, one of the highlights of the week was Lobster Carnival golf tour- nament at the Summerside Golf and Country Club. -' year. however, due to Iaturday of Lobster Carnival Week being Airforce Day the tournament will he held Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11. Also on Sunday a carnival ear rally sponsored by the fimnnerside Car Club is expect ed to draw a large entry list. Prizes will be presented to the first three finishers of the five- hour rally. Activities on Monday morning get underway at 9.30 sharp will! Carnival Little League playoffs At 1pm.. a half-hour prior to parade time. whistles will be blowinl. chimes and bells will be ringing throughout the town informing citizens that Lobster Carnival Week is underway. Also at one p.m. Bill Lynch's Midway will begin catering to the thrill seekers. BIG PARADE The parade. consisting of some 64 floats. 10 bands. c l o w n s. marching units. etc.. and ex- ted be miles in length, leaves the Marine Wharf at 1.30 for the march to Civic Stadium. travelling along Water Street to Central. north on Central to Fitzroy. east on Fitzroy to Granville. north on Granville to Beattie. west on Beattie to Summer. south in Summer to Beaver. west 0 11 Beaver to Central. south on Cen- t-ral to Notre Dame. west Notre Dame to Civic Stadium. Also during the first day as well as the remainder of the week. there will be feature acts in the stadium. a band concert and demonstration by Oromoc- to Lions Club Band and Major- ettes . . One of the main attractions throughout the week are the de- licious lobster and chicken sup pers being served at Civic Stad- ium. The. official opening will be at 7.15 Monday evening at C iv 1 c Stadium with Mayor W. E. Jen- kins presiding. Afterwards a band concert will be presented by the Legion Band of Summer- side under the direction of Sgt. on ey. Four nights during the week. dances will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Home and on Thursday night the RCMP Ball will be staged at the Prince County Vocational School.
