. - PARKS Brudenell RiVer Provincial Park naturalist, Alan Pater, is currently planning events for the third annual Interpretation Week to take place from July 18 to 22. A Nature Festival is planned to happen simultaneously. This five-day event is an excellent means of creating and promoting a greater awareness of Prince Edward Island's unique cultural and natural history. Interpretation Week is well attended and serves to enlighten park visitors about important environmental issues. Topics include soil erosion, ground water resources, and natural area construction and reforestation. During the week, park staff will be conducting a sunset paddle, a "natural" campfire, beach and wooded_trail walks, informative slide presentations, and a special nature walk conducted by the Island Nature Trust. On Saturday and Sunday, the Nature Festival will schedule nature related presentations by various groups and individuals. Displays, such as the P.E.I. Forestry trailer, are included. A highlight not be be missed is a four-hour guided canoe hike up to the Brudenell River pines. A light lunch will be provided for a small fee. VAlso, there will be a colourful Irish heritage campfire and an interpretation program called Marshland Encounters. At 7:00 a.m. on July 22, a guided walk entitled Birds of Brudenell will take place_followed by a breakfast for the birders, again for a small fee.
