Doris lltllllllll SlIHlllll FAIR A most successful school fair was held in Bedeque on Friday, Oct. B. The following school districts combined for the purpose: Searletown. Fern- wood, Lower Badeque, North Bede- que. Mt. Stowe, Chelton, and Bedeque. The fair was held in thc spacious hall at the latter' place, owned by Mrs. or. sutherismi, who iiurily is-we the use of it for the occasion. The day being ideal a large number of parents were present to encourage the teach- ers, of whom too much cannot be said for their untiring-efforts, for the success of their first school fair. All ,interested are under obligation to the following judges: Prof. J. A. Clarke, Prof. Tennant. Prof. McLa.rty and Miss Sterns. Among the visitors were Supt. Shaw, Prof. Blanchard of P.W.C., Mr. Hensley of Bank of Commerce. Prof. McLarty directed the sports, and early in the games won the good will of the contestants by his genial manner. There were a number of blank entries in grains, roots, vegetables, flowers, fruit, cook- ing, manual training, poultry collec- tions, school work, and a blank num- ber in sports. The financial end of the enterprise was satisfactory, about $50 being con- tributed by the combined districts for prizes. At the close ot’ the fair an organiz- ation was formed with a president. vlce~president, secretary-treasui‘er and an executive, composed of all the teachers, trustees. and one represen- tative from each of the schools, the object being to carry' On an annual fair and' work therewith. The ladies of the Red Cross served lunch in connection with the fair. and raised the creditable sum of $36.
