A BASE-BALL match between the members of St. Lawrence and Prince of Wales’ Clubs was played at Victoria Park, on Saturday afternoon. The match resulted in a victory for the St. Lawrence. Tue Tea Party which was to take place at Fort Augustus to-day, has been post- poned until Wednesday next. The steamer Heather Belle will leave Steam Navigation Wharf at 10 o’clock, a. m. On Friday evening last the remains of Miss Isabella McMillan were forwarded io this city from Harvard Square, Cambridge, Mass. They were interred yesterday in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, near Shaw’s Wharf, Elliot River. We sympathize with her be- reaved friends. A LARGE NUMBER of residents from the South-West side of this city, appeared before the Stipendiary Magistrate this fore- noon, for allowing nuisance to accumulate in their yards. The majority of those had good excuses, and were “ letoff’ with a five) cent fine, while the worst cases were con- ditionally fined $2 and costs. Tue examination of the different schools of the city will take place as follows: St. Dunstan’s College on Thursday next; Prince of Wales’ College to-morrow (Tues- day); Prince Street School, St. Patrick’s School and all the Government schools on Thursday next. Professor Caven will ex- amine the pupils of St. Patrick’s School. A TRIAL between Charles J. Clarke vs. John Gates, which was to take place to-day before Theoph. DesBrisay, Esq., was post- poned until Friday. The action is for a breach of the Act regulating Railways, Mr. Gates’ horses having been found on the Railway track. Another action for assault was brought against Francis Began on Sat- urday. He was further sentenced to two months’ imprisonment with hard labor. THe schooner Arrow, Capt. Boucher, bound from Boone Bay for Georgetown, with a cargo of herring, entered this harbor yesterday. She hauled alongside a wharf and commenced to discharge some liquors. Officers Curtis and McDonald, who were on the alert, immediately seized the vessel and transferred all the liquors to Bonded Ware- house No.1. The Arrow is now in the hands of the Customs authorities. She is owned in Georgetown. Graham the Crushed Lawyer—the leading characters, From beginning to end there was not one word nor act that would cause offence to any one, and in this respect it is a departure from the usual run of such troupes.” NEWS BY TELEGRAPH. sd (Special Despatch to Examiner, ) Lonpbon, June 22, Congress, at Monday’s sitting, will discuss the details of the arrangement made on Satur- day, permitting the Turks to garrison the Bal- kan passes, _ Later despatches declare that this conces- sion, on the part of Russia, is, unquestionably, conditional upon the establishment of the autonomy of Roumelia, and the evacuation of the interior, by Turkish troops. The interior organization of the province will be next discussed. The conditions laid down by Russia are ab- solute. __ It is understood that the negotiations rela- tive to a guarantee for the automony of the province will give rise to an animated debate. The question of the evacuation of_ the fort- resses will also rise in connection with the or- ganization of Roumelia. CONSTANTINOPLE, June 23. The whole Turkish right-wing has made a forward movement. _ It is understood that England advocates the formation of gendarmes to replace the Rus- slan army of occupation. The Russians recently requested the British Consul at Bourgees to billet some of their sol- diers, and, in consequence of his refusal, they threatened to tear down the British flag. Minister Layard instructed the Consul to confine himself to a protest. BELGRADE, June 23. A large number of Russian officers are ex- pected here to-morrow. It is stated, in well-informed circles, that in certain eventualities two divisions of Russian infantry will enter the country as reinforce- ments to the Servian army. Sr. Perzrsspurea, June 23. There is much excitement here concerning the arrangement by which Turkey is allowed to occupy the Balkan Passes; and it is thought that Count Schouvaloff is accountable for mak- ing this concession. At ‘Wheatley River, on Sunday 23rd inst., aged 80 years, Alexander Ross. He was a native of Invermpshire, Scetland, and carried to this Island with his father in the ship Polly in the year 1805. He wasa kind and oblig- ing neighbor, a steadfast friend, and was much respected by all who knew him. At his residence, Brackley Point Road, on Sunday morning the 23rd inst., after an illness of several months, Charles Kennedy, Esq., in the fifty-seventh year of his age. Funeral will take place from his late residence on Tuesday, the 2iith inst., at 3 o'clock, p.m. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend. Prince of Wales College.
