Campbell, member o1’ the State Supreme Court and former Chief Justice, died in a Salem hospital, July 16, at the age of '11, following a heart attack, suffered ten days previously, after an automobile trip to Southern Oregon- Boni on August 29, 1868, on Prince Edward Island, Canada, and a graduate of the Prince of Wales College tlicie, 119 came in 1888 to Oregon City, whore he studied law. He was admitted to the bar 1n 1893. His career as a public official be- can in 1900, when he was appointed deputy district attorney of Gladia- mas county, serving until 1004. He served two terms 1n the state legislature. beginning in 1007 and in 1909 he was named circuit judge of the fifth judical district, Clacka- mas county, by Governor Frank Benson, serving in that capacity until 1930, when he became supreme court justice.
