In the gate itself the U.N.B. pass defence had but little work to do as our Q.B.. Rick Kiraly elected to stick to a strong ground attack and went to the air on only five occasions. In a league where, this year, upsets are quite common, (Mt. A. over X, X over Acadia and U.N.B. over Mt. A.) we face Saturday's Acadia game with confidence and hope. St. F.X. showed last Saturday that the way to beat last year's conference chanpions is for a hard charging defensive line to give Acadia‘s All-Canadian Quarterback Bob Caneron a hard afternoon. X did just that and we showed, in Antigcnish the previous week, that we have a tougher defensive squad than the Xaverians. look ' for Mati Kolga ('75) and Larry Kennedy (64) to give ing our happy prices. the undoubtedly talented Cameron a poor exanple of Island hospitality. We also suspect that Mike Iyriotokis will not be a favourite of the Acadia team. ']he best football gate that we, have seen at UPEI was that of a few years ago against Acadia which was played in ‘ torrential rain and high wind. We would like to see a repeat performance. Needless to say the game will be replayed, with great exaggeration, in the Panther Lounge follow- ing the game where sorrows ’ ‘ - x ‘ x . - - A . \ . . - ' y y and success rejoiced. We also under- stand that a T.V. will be set up to enable baseball fans to follow the playoffs. We have cone to the sad conclusion that our Pantherettes should be pitching horseshoes in— stead of playing field hockey. In the fomer > "Close" counts . dropped heartbreakers, by the narrowest identical margins l-O , to Acadia and St. Mary's. Our girls are losing ganes to much more experienced players. After all, the SUN has made great efforts to become a paper that students can take home for thher to read! One of the S.M.U. players, Ron Webb, ran wild and, in what is usually a low scoring game, chalked _ up no less than seven" goals. Dm Ewart got our only marker. Ch Sunday we dropped a close one to Acadia 4-2. Vincie thought we could have won this one as we lost control of the ball directly in frmt of their net three tines. We remarked to a racquet wielder how odd it was that he found no diffic— ulty in putting the ball in the net, tine after tine, while the soccer players were achieving no success whatever as they tried to do the sane thing—fie— did not think our remark funny.
