E. Island at the Market Wharf with cargoes of potatoes and turnips, The pota- toes are for the most part calicoes, and are of excellent keeping quality. Both potatoe: and turnips are selling at 28 cents a bushel. Prices are rather firmer in the United States markets, and prices here are not therefore likely to be lower. Iumicration Statistics.—Toronto Mail: The total number of immigrants who had arrived in the Dominion up to the 3lst October was 153,055 of whom 82,482 are known to have remained in Canada, the rest having been through passengers to the Western States from Liverpool, and who took Canada asthe shortest route to their destination. These figures are only ap- mate, as British Columbia has to be from before the full returns can be made out ; and there has been a consider- able influx across the Jong American frontier between Emerson and the Rocky Moun ains. He is a good, safe candidate. Nov. 14th, 1882. Miliview Notes. Mr. Peter Curran, Inspector of Schools, visited Millview and Seal River Schools on Monday and Tuesday. Mr. Curran is a gentleman fitted in every respect for the office of Inspector, and we hear him highly spoken of everywhere he goes. Miss Annie Storey, danghter of Wm. Storey, of this place, died on the evening of Friday, Nov. 3rd. She was a young lady of exemplary Christiah character, and her gentle and loving disposition endeared her to all. Her remains were interred on Sun- day, in the Cherry Valley Churchyard, to which a large number of ‘Telatives and friends repaired to pay thetlast tribute of respect, J. R. Bourke, Esq., of the Corner Store, has lately received his new stock of gox and has everything from a pin to a anit of clothes, besides a full stock of hardware, crystal ware, jewelry, groceries and patent medicines.
