few weeks with Mrs. P. S Ms.cNutt,

A grand concert and social will be
given in the Cherry Valley Hall, on
Thursday evening, 12th inst. under the
auspices of Cherry Valley Lodge, No.
77. I. O. G. T. A good programme is
being prepared and a good time may be
expected. Admission only 10c. Ladies
with pies or baskets admitted free. Pro-
ceeds in aid of the organ fund. Doors
open at 6.30, concert to commence at
7.30 p. m. Should the` evening prove
unfavorable the concert will be held on
the following evening.
Enrron Co'rroN, of the Charlottetown
Examiner, was in town last week on
his way to the Exhibition. Although
he enioyed the “climb to the top of the
hill to see the New Academy. and
enjoy :the magnificent prospect upon
which Picton looks.”ihe did not enjoy
a four hour wait for the 3.15 train to
start. Of Pictou he says;--“Picton is
beginning to look up. Its biscuits go
further than ever: and the N ova Scotia
Boot and Shoe Factory is flourishing
under the able management of Mr. Mc-

Wil' am Stewart of Marslield took sud-
denly ill. He was sttending to the usual
duties of the day but wa= testing nn-
ciime worse and at three o’clock Dr.
Kelley was sent for and arrived shortly
af=er. His illness was not considered
critical until late in the evening
when he became so badthat a mea-
senger was again despatched for the
doctor but when he arrived Mr Stewart’s
spirit had taken its departure.
The funeral took place on Friday at'
10 o’cIock and was largely attended.
Rev. G. P. Raymond and J. Layton
` odiciated. The interment was made in ,
Mirshtield cemetery. A wife and six
children are left to mourn a kind hus-
band and affectionate father.
ABOUT two months ago a young man
amed George Foster, of Milton, about
22 years old, left the Island with the
harvest excursion party for the North
west. Shortly after he left his family
lost trace of him, but thought he had
arrived safely at his destination. How-
ever. not long ago a notice appeared in
I the Family Herald stating that a person
whose name was thought to be Foster,
but who could not tell where he came
from, had been taken charge of by the
asylum authorities in Montreal because
of evidences of insanity. This notice
was made known tm his people and
caused them much alarm. They surmis-
ed the person _referred to was of their
family. Accordingly a brother left for
Montreal Tuesday to endeavor to iden-
tify the man.- Examines.
