Henty Ward Boechtr's intended lectures ime St. John, the Sun says. ‘‘ If any one has doubted the ability of Henry Ward: Beecher to ‘ draw ’ full housess"his doubts will probably be dis- pelled by the audiences which will greet the <istinguished lecturer in St. John. Hard as the times are, there is a popular determination to hear Mr. Beecher. We understand that a number of gentlemen in the public walks of life, such as clergymen, officials, politicians and others, have been invited to meet Mr. Beecher on the opening night, and that they have accepted the in- vitation. It is more than probable that on the occasion of Mr. Beecher’s visit, St. John will see as large audiences crowded into the Institute as the old building has ever known.” - +r Australia as a Wheat Country. The returns which have just reached Eng- land from Australia show that that country may, cre long, have something to say to the price of corn. On the wide plains north of St. Aman, which have hitherto been thought a desert. and therefore still remain Crown lands, an attempt has been made to introduce corn cultivation. Already scientific men declare that, under the ‘‘mallee” scrub it is possible water toa very considerable extent may be found, in which case upwards of 15,000,000 acres, which form the northwest corner of the colony, will become available. Independently of this, the amount of land in Victoria under wheat during the past season was 714,292 acres, which have yielded an aggregate of 7,043,964 bushels, or about ten bushels per acre. This shows a slight falling off from last, year, when the average production was nearly 124 bushels per acre; but the long-continued drought of this summer has reduced the yield very sensibly. —ePoeae -—- Our North-West Indians. Winwrpec, Mann., July 23.—The Battle MOURNING ST ATIONERY, ford Herald, of the 40th June, says that the Blackfeet and Sarces, who it was sup- posed had gone home, have returned to Battleford, being unable to cross the Sonth Saskatchewan, owing to the high water. ‘The condition ef these Indians is terrible in the extreme. The rations of tea and flour is but one remove from starvation, ac- customed as they are to animal food. The Indians are quite willing to work, anda farm has been opened, upon which a num- ber have been engaged. The Indians are living partially on wild turnips and wild rhuburb, without which their sufferings would be intensfied. Meat is net to be had, nor ean any be ordered by telegraph, the lines being down. About one thousand Indians are at Battleford, and while every- thing is pacific now, the ‘‘ Herald” thinks that serious complications may ensue, owing to the rumours of Sitting Bull’s intentions on the boundry. Liver is King. The liver is the imperial organ of the whole human system, as it controls the life, health and happiness of man. When it is disturbed in its proper action, all kinds of ailments are the natural result. The di- gestion of food, the movements of the heart and blood, the action of the brain and ner- vous system, are all immediately connected with the workings of the liver. It has been successfully proved that Green’s August Flower is unequalled in curing all persons afflicted with dyspepsia or liver complaint, and all the numerous symptoms that result from an unhealthy condition of the liver and stomach. Constitutional Gatarrh Remedy CURES CATARRH. Hear what a Reverend Gentleman says of the Constitutional Ren.edy. T. J. B. Harpine, Esq., Brockville, Ont, :— Dear Sir—It is now two years since your ‘“‘Censtitutional Catarrh Remedy” was intro- duced te me. I have waited this ong to see if the eure would remain permanent before do- ing this, my duty, to you, as at first the happy effects seemed to me to be ‘‘too good to true.” I was afflicted in my head for years before I suspected it to be Catarrh. In reading in your Circular I saw my case described in many par ticulars. The inward ‘‘drop” from the head had become very disagreeable, and a choking sensation often preventing me from lying long, I would feel like smothering and be compelled to sit upin the bed. My health and spirits were seriously affected. When your agent came to Walkertown in August, 1876, I secured three bottles. Before I had used a quarter of the contents of one bottle I found decided re- lief, and when I had used two bottles and a third, I quit taking it, feeling quite cured of that ailment, and have not used any since until of late I have taken some for a cold in my head, A sense of duty to sufferers from that loath- some disease, Catarrh, prompts me to send make what use of it yon may see proper Yours truly, W. TINDALL, Methodist Minister. Port Elgin, Ont., Aug. 24, 1878. Ask for Littlefield’s Constitutional Catarrh Remedy and take no other. T. J. B. Harpine, Dominion Agent, Brock- ville, Ont.
